Oh, I don't know. I had a pretty good time in the 70's. Met a beautiful redhead and married her. But then even though I had fairly long hair my fashion sense ran to t-shirts in warm weather and flannel shirts in the cold. That was typical oil patch attire at the time. You won't see those fashion horses out there in the mud, grease and steel filings.
I don’t remember that open shirt necklace look in the 70’s, at least where I’m from.
For me it was always faded Levi jeans, boots, tee shirts in the summer and western style type shirts in the winter.
Complete with shoulder length hair, and I never seemed to fit in with the real hippies because I was as far to the right as one could be back then.
