I think it's the use of public monies for "legal aid".

That is, thousands of pounds for a frivolous change of middle name versus not penny for getting legal help to get medical help for a child.

Most other names have good and bad associations, and the name isn't attached to just one person.

If I were the mother of a child whose middle name was Isis, I would want to change it. Maybe the dad is a Muslim and thinks the name is fine.
