How do they know it won’t be cloudy that day?
Ah yes the bane of eclipse watching. In 1979 I flew to Winnipeg to watch a total solar eclipse. The forecast was iffy but when it arrived the sky was clear enough. Worth the journey if you view it safely. Partial eclipses are interesting but you really want to be as close to the centre of the eclipse path as possible.
So much for “The sun got in my eyes” excuse …
It's Western Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest. Think Seattle and rain. If you want rain free, go to Eastern Oregon, which is a desert. But, I hope you have your hotel booked because they have been sold out along the eclipse route for months now.
Why not just open the gates early and have a lot of pregame festivities?
