This story doesn't mention breeds, but a prohibited source identifies the dots as pitbulls and German shepherds.

Waiting for the pit bull apologists to show up.

“The child’s mother was placed into protective custody and turned over to medical professionals at medical facility,”

I took that to mean she was at risk of harming herself in some one. And could you blame her?

My kid bought a house and it had one of those trampolines in the back yard. I thank the Good Lord that it was destroyed by a wind storm very shortly after they moved in.

I think they mean that the trampoline was walled off and the dogs were outside the trampoline. When I read that he was killed in an enclosed area, I immediately thought of pit bulls because they are documented to break through screen doors, chain link fences etc. to get at their prey. A young, foolish friend of mine tried to provide a home for a stray pit bull and when he tried to put it in a fenced enclosure, it chewed obsessively on the chain link until the wire broke and was sticking through the flesh on its face and yet it still chewed. There are horrific documented stories like this where two pits broke through a locked screen door on a house and killed a baby in front of its grandmother. So whomever put the kid in the “enclosed” trampoline thought it was safe because they failed to account for the pit’s “prey drive” (i.e., how hard it would work to get its prey).

One suspects pit bulls.

I happened to witness a pit bull attack on a little yorkie. It would make people sick if I described it.

Pit bulls are bloodthirsty and have a murderous instinct.

That pit bull/convict rehab program on tv featured a pit bull that was being adopted by a man who liked bike riding. The pit bull rescue owner said that the pit had to be tested to see if a person on a moving bike was too much stimulation which would trigger the pit’s “high prey drive.” That’s a dainty way of saying the pit could attack someone moving past because it would think it was escaping prey. So the kid bouncing may have been thrilling to the dog pack - there were four dogs.
If you watch the news report at the link (not worth it), there’s nothing for the tv crew to film so the reporter places awkward emphasis on a scrap of red crime scene tape (”and there’s more on the other side of the house!”) and what can (not) be seen when they looked in the back yard (”...and yes, dog feces...”).

"Those dogs were really crazy, they were always biting on each other," [neighbor Sebastian] Hernandez said.

Red flags all around.

I was mauled by a dog when i was like 5, a springer spaniel hunting dog

My fault.

I climbed over the wall of the kennel to get in.

Adults were there in moments

They have a lot of dogs, and aggressive dogs — pit bulls and German shepherds, big and small, about 10 dogs — and young children," he said.

Probably the small dogs did it.

I do not claim to be an animal expert, but I have been observant of animal behavior for most of my seventy plus years. Dogs are pursuit animals and they become energized with fast moving objects. Why do some dogs chase cars, seeming for the helluva it? Why do they chase squirrels, rabbits, etc.? Because they are pursuit animals. Yes, even kids can excite this instinct by running around fast and shouting with glee, just because they are kids. Most dogs can control this pursuit instinct around humans, but when there is more than one of them you also increase the likelihood that one in the pack may lose control. Then things can get out of hand quickly because the pack instinct kicks in. While only a guess, it would not surprise me that the trigger in this case was the boy jumping up and down, while expressing verbal elation on the trampoline. It is a terrible tragedy for sure.

That’s terrible, I’m glad you survived. It is a point that this article doesn’t mention the breed or size of the dogs.

Dogs are great animals, but they can be quite dangerous. You have to watch your kids carefully always. And yeah, you can look away for a moment and disaster can happen, that is true too.

You don’t leave kids alone with aggressive dogs.

You don’t leave little kids alone period.

10 dogs and a 4 year old kid on a hot Tx day?

Mama should feel the hurt, the stupid burns.
