The 2017 College Football Season kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 26, with six games. But the season may not truly feel like it's underway until the following week when the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida State Seminoles meet at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic.
While the Associated Press preseason rankings have yet to be released, there is a strong possibility that Alabama and Florida State will both be ranked somewhere within the top three. Most experts have listed the Crimson Tide as the top team in the nation, but the Seminoles could be as high as No. 2.
Alabama, coming off a devastating last-second defeat to the Clemson Tigers in the National Championship, have a strong shot at being a preseason No. 1 for the fourth time under head coach Nick Saban. Last year Alabama was the preseason No. 1 and Clemson was the preseason No. 2.
After Alabama, it gets a bit more unclear. Ohio State, Florida State and USC could all be in the running for No. 2.
In 2016, Ohio State began and ended the season at No. 6 after being dominated by Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinal. The Buckeyes' offense will be led by quarterback J.T. Barrett, along with running back Demario McCall and receiver Johnnie Dixon.
Head coach Urban Meyer called Barrett "the toughest guy out there."

I can’t count the times that #2 picks win the Heisman. Everyone picks a local boy for #1.
Texas as #20 is a mystery to me. They’ve done little in recent years beyond get the coach replaced after lackluster performance from a bunch of blue-blood, 4-star recruits.
My team, Oklahoma State, as #11 is going to be interesting to see how the season develops. It could be our best team performance since 2011.
Those are some pretty interesting predictions. I have questions about MANY of the teams, including Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Washington, Washington State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Kansas State, West Virginia, USC and a few more that I’m forgetting.
I can’t wait for the season to begin! Thanks for posting this; you’ve whet my appetite!! :)
Still smarting from the whooping 'Bama put on my Washington Huskies though.
Auburn at #13?? Now that has to be a joke.
Yeah, 31-0, Urban Meyer is no longer invincible or intimidating. THE Ohio State Buckeyes may in reality only be the third best team in the Big10(14?) East. This being said as an OSU alumnus. I hope I am wrong, but superior talent in terms of recruiting rankings does not always trump player development.
Alabama #1 is no surprise at all.
Wolverines time is coming... inevitable that Harbaugh will dominate OSU when the crops mature.
Love college ball. Won’t watch the pros.
Ra The Citadel.
Go Army! Beat Navy!
Go Gators!

That could be this year. Michigan is way too lowly ranked here at 15. My guess is they are a top 5 team. Heavy losses due to graduation on defense for sure, but the last two recruiting classes have been outstanding.

We are soon coming up on the season where ESPN and all the other networks get the last laugh on us. Millions of conservatives who won’t watch the NFL on ESPN all line up lemming-like to watch their package of college football. I can hear them now in the executive offices. “Look at these people, we make fun of them, we insult their values, but here they are, they can’t do without us, “But ah gotta watch muh team”. What a bunch of suckers.” Yep, that’s what the networks think of you. Enjoy your games.
Oh yeah, this is our year! GO DAWGS!!
Harbaugh wants the Obama’s to be the co-captains of the Michigan team. They can loose every game as far as I’m concerned.
