I received two before, and both cases were settled before the deadline given.

If you get picked for an interview just act biased

One time I was on jury duty for a case involving an auto accident between a young guy and an elderly gentleman. During the juror questioning, they asked us if we had any prejudices against older people. One potential juror after another sat there in that room full of people and swore up and down that they were so very prejudiced, there was no way they could ever be impartial, they just didn't like old people, etc. Obviously they were just trying to get out of serving on the jury. It didn't work; not one of them was excused. But I found it interesting that people would admit to today's biggest sin...prejudice...just to get out of serving.

When you are questioned prior to being named to a jury, nswer “yes” to the question have you ever been in court...have you ever been sued or filed suit.

That should take care of it.

Or, if you are selected for the interview, tell the defense attorney that you’d make a perfect juror because you can spot a guilty person a mile away.

...I don’t trust the police...

All the more reason to be on a jury.

Tell them you are peerless and therefore, unable to be on anyone’s jury.

District court paid about a hundred a day just for showing up. You go in the first day and then afterwards you call each day or night to see if you go in again

The cases I was asked aboccut were medical.

A cancer suit against a product manufacturer and a case against an insurance company that didn’t want to cover an oral surgery procedure because it had been done at a hospital...

Nothing too interesting or too messy

If you get picked for an interview just act biased. You should get disqualified.

That's assuming that you get a proper "voir dire" interview. I was picked for a jury some years ago, and they were about to start asking me questions when someone noticed it was almost lunchtime, so the lawyers both approved me without asking so much as a SINGLE question.

Turned out to be the biggest waste of time I'd ever seen.

Show up to the county one. Hope you get dismissed before being called to a jury. If called to serve mention the hardship of the other summons.

From my recent experience at a state court, they are willing to dismiss jurors in cases like that.

I never try to avoid jury duty; it’s too important to skip. I suspect, however, that the second court would exempt you if you told them you had just served, and they will ask about prior service.

LOL. Wearing a MAGA shirt (if hats aren’t allowed) would get you off jury duty around here for sure. In L.A. It would be like wearing a swastica or pointed white sheet hat. And you might get killed in the parking lot after.

I chose Christmas time as my postponement. Was picked to go to a courtroom, but the judge came out and said they weren’t ready to go to trial yet and sent us all home.

Won’t help you now, but I have found that registering to vote with “No Party Affiliation” leads to no jury summonses - ever. They must assume you are just the sort of libertarian crank they don’t want anywhere near their courtrooms. :)

I would love to do my civic duty and sit on a jury. But I have little children and now a senior mom with Alzheimer’s so if I could get out if it I would. I know I can’t, so I do pray not to be chosen. One day I would be proud to do my civic duty. It’s not about how serving would affect ME, its about those I have to scramble to find alternate care for.

While on jury duty and answering the questions from the judge and the lawyers the woman next to me actually said (in regards to the defendent) : “well he wouldn’t be here if he wasn’t guilty”. She was excused.

You’ve got legitimate excuses. My wife did the same when ours were young and we only had one car, which I needed to get to work. She was excused.

Here, I suspect they get the potential jury list from the property tax list.

I would love to serve, however, I live in one county, but have the adjoining counties zip code, due to the city of my address. All in the family, over a 20 years period, have received notice to serve but then been illuminated as the wrong county called. I have asked them to fix this problem, but they are unable as the computer program that does the random selection is geared to zip codes and apparently can not be changed.
