I owned a 1966 911. The insurance company would not give me insurance because the serial number started with 901 instead of 911. They suspected fraud.

That was when I found out, and them, that Porsche wanted to call their new model 901 but Peugeot owned that model number. So they changed it to 911. Unfortunately, 1966 models went out with 901 serial numbers before the change.

BTW, I got insurance.

This is the very color of the 911 I had. Did not have fog lamps though.

Pretty car, eh?

5 speeds forward, IIRC.

Crikey! **1967 Porsche 911 S Coupe 307588S – sold for $253,000**; I sold mine to Wayne Carini for $4K, when I came back from overseas. It was undriveable in the snow, even w/ studs; kept it on blocks in a barn in winter. Car was great fun. Gardes Red said to the cops...*HEY! Look at me** I was always being pulled over. LOL

Great fun with the PCA and long drives to Lime Rock. Ahhhh, misspent youth. {{{sigh}}
