A 14-year-old Texas girl died Sunday morning after she was electrocuted while using her cellphone in the bathtub, according to family members.
This is such a tragedy that doesnt need to happen to anyone else, Madison Coes grandmother, Donna OGuinn, told KCBD. We want something good to come out of this as awareness of not using your cellphone in the bathroom as it is plugged in and charging.

So she wasn’t killed by the cellphone, it was the charger.
What we need is a LAW - ban all cellphone use in bathtubs.
Yes, good progressive legislators should confront this very important issue.

“So she wasnt killed by the cellphone, it was the charger.”
It was a shockingly inaccurate headline.
Seriously? My charger draws .2 amps.
The only way I see this could have happened is if she dropped the charger with an extension cord in the tub and it wasn’t plugged into a GFI. Then the extension cord did her in.
“What we need is a LAW - ban all cellphone use in bathtubs.”
No, ban baths and bathtubs.
We save water, no one drowns in the tub and no one will get electrocuted in the bathtub.
Poor kid probably never had a real science class in school.
Poor kid. Prayers for the family.
These days bathroom outlets are supposed to have ground fault circuit interrupters. Every time I’ve tested one of those things, perhaps two or three times, they’ve worked. The tests were unscheduled. Screwdrivers were involved.
“Then the extension cord did her in.”
Exactly, it was the extension cord.
Calling BS, right now.
5 (FIVE!) volts DC max is such a tiny charge. Plus a bath should have a GFCI outlet.
nope.nope. nope.
foul play ...
(and no, i have not read the article ...... )
Can someone explain how a charger could electrocute someone? I can not imagine how enough amps could be transferred in such a small diameter wire to kill someone.
“Poor kid probably never had a real science class in school.”
But she did have curly hair for her funeral.
Libs should ban the stuff...
Disable electrical outlets closer than 5 or 6 feet from the tub, and try to teach teenagers about childproofing themselves.
Too bad it wasn’t Carlos Danger.
Another bleeping tag to remove from my cell phone charger cable.....
After reading other replys I would have to agree, it must have been an extension cord that fell into the bath.
Also, don’t text while naked.
This is similar to "the SUV did it" or "the gun did it".
The problem with shoddy reporting is that it sticks with low information folks and stick and sticks.
Simply a reflection of a quality education
