Rogers was portrayed as working for the Queens Rangers.
I always assumed him to be a mercenary that would work as a double agent
“a guy on his own... get in.. get out..”
If you read a biography of Rogers ( I have one squirreled away somewhere!), he was always broke, almost always drunk. After Pontiac’s Rebellion the Crown left him on half pay & owed him land & money. (As I remember it was quite a bit of land & money! He spent a lot of his own money keeping the Rangers supplied and up to snuff. In that respect he was a leader of men to be admired!)
The Angus MacFadyen portrayal of him Turn I thought was great!
Though I do wonder about the accent. Would a colonial New Hampshireian have that type of an accent?
