They likely just shared his IP info with CNN and CNN created the backstory that the guy outed himself. If they had his IP from owning Reddit, that’s obviously where they tracked him down.

This is a threat to anyone (including FR members) who posts political commentary in online forums.
I can imagine the FCC demanding that CNN name their sources for all those leaks they have been spewing out against Trump. They could say that CNN will lose their operating license if they refuse.
