I saw this happen. The plane was very low and appeared to have just taken off since it was in the air east of the airport maybe 200’ above the ground. . It was very low and I said, “Man that plane is awfully low to be banking that hard.” It continued as though it was making a U-turn returning to the airport and kept getting lower and banking harder until it hit the median and burst into flames.

May have lost an engine. Even though its a twin engine the 310 will not fly on on engine. They call it the sweet potato.

Thanks for the report. Trying to return to the airport is usually the worst thing a pilot can do if there’s a total loss of power.
