If you use Firefox (mine’s Linux version, Iceweasel) there is a plugin called No Script. I’ve used it for several years.

No Script is the best thing since sliced bread. I use it and cookie monster; no popups, almost no ads, no virus and no tracking.

The great part, you can allow Java scripts for a single account at whatever level you want. I use the minimal allowable for the specific site.
