Could you help me with a comparison between Otto Warmbeir and Michael Brown?
Otto went to North Korea with a group. Accused of a crime he was sentence to prison and killed. People hold back their sympathy saying, "He shouldn't have gone to North Korea." "It's his own fault for being stupid." etc.
Michael Brown lived life as thug. When he attacked a police officer, the officer shoots and kills him. Millions are outraged, the police officer is brought to trail, and though acquitted, he is threatened, and harassed. The family sues and the city pays them off.....
If liberals didn’t have double-standards they wouldn’t have any standards at all.
Anyway, if Warmbier was a true believer, he most likely visited North Korea expecting to see a paradise, and was utterly unprepared for the reality of the regime.
Blacks get stirred up and riot. It takes a lot more to stir up whites. The thug is pandered to to quell the possibility of a riot. The riot won’t be put down due to the “visuals” of seeing blacks “mistreated”. The propaganda machine has worked well. Whites who defend society or themselves are greedy oppressive haters of minorities.

Bottom line is they were both stupid.
Both stupid in different ways. Michael Brown was malicious and dangerous, Otto Warmbeir was clueless and feckless. Warmbeir’s cluelessness inflicted harm on others as well as himself. Anyone who travels to North Korea loses the aegis of U.S. diplomacy, and the nation should not spend a lot of energy trying to extricate himself from the the consequences of his fecklessness.
Both Brown and Warmbeir were let down by the adults in their lives who should have instilled in them more sense of responsibility and common sense. By making martyrs of either of them we sending an altogether wrong message to young people. As Chris Rock explained so well, “You ever hear folks sayin’ I wouldn’t do that shit if I was you? Well, this here is some of that shit.”
Don’t attack police officers.
Don’t travel to countries controlled by insane dictators.
Leftists never live by the dictates the give to the rest of us. Its been true of Russian, Chinese, N Korean, Cuban elite and all the rest. Bernie Sanders comes to mind with Hollywood leftists. Just a fact of life.
BTW, I would not be surprised if Warmbier’s condition was the result of a suicide attempt. The Norks didn’t count on that. Once his usefulness as a bargaining chip was removed, the Norks dropped him like a hot potato. Clearly they expected the next Democratic President to send them a planeload of Obama Euros to buy him back. A US hostage is worth a king’s ransom to them and far too valuable to kill.
And for that I blame the lying media and Higher Education.
I tend to agree, but I think calling him a misguided idealist is giving a lot of credit that may or may not be due. The tour company he traveled with is the “Young Pioneers.”
Other sources indicate that, as the name implies, this group is for dedicated young Communists. Pollyanna would say they are misguided idealists, even so. I say, the history of the 20th Century shows they are vicious killers who won’t hesitate to liquidate millions to achieve total power over society.
Warmbier may have been a misguided idealist. Or, he may have simply been a gangsta wannabe who died at the hands of another gang. I’m not sure there is a comparison with Michael Brown.

I think a suicide attempt is a reasonable, if cynical, speculation. What motive do the Norks have to kill him. When some horrible Democrat apparatchik succeeds Trump, he is literally worth a billion dollars to them alive. He is worthless to them dead.

They didn’t want to kill him, but rather they wanted to abuse him and they wanted to see just how far they can abuse an American citizen (and it was a given Trump would find out about the abuse and they wanted to test him).
Things went too far and oops, $h!t happens. Probably testing new interrogation methods and technology as dictators are inclined to do (recall the torture and medical abuse by the chinese and norks during the Korean War).
Remember, to a society that is convinced Americans and others are sub-human, torture and other abuses are allowed and encouraged.

White people don’t riot, burn buildings, and loot their neighborhoods when things don’t go their way.

Perhaps we should send the BLM over to NK so they could confiscate some cattle
