The Washington Post reported an imaginary meeting between Federal Communications (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai and President Donald Trump, alleging unethical coordination between the White House and the FCC.
The Washington Post reported on President Donald Trumps meeting with tech industry CEOs this week that included Google, Microsoft, and Apple. The paper argued that Pai attended a tech meeting with the president, which, according to the Washington Post, raises questions over whether the FCC remains truly independent of the White House. The FCC is an independent agency, similar to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which regulates an industry based on its sole discretion.
John Simpson, an advocate at Consumer Watchdog, said, It is a White House function in which he should not have taken part. They should be going the extra mile to be independent from the White House. It is incumbent upon the chairman and the commissioners not only to act independently, but to avoid any appearance of conflict.
The Washington Post retracted its claim, arguing that Pai was in fact not in the same room as President Trump. The papers correction statement read: An earlier version of this story suggested that Pai was in the same room as Trump. In fact, he attended a breakout session with other meeting members in a different building.
Matthew Berry, chief of staff to FCC chair Pai, questioned in a tweet whether the Washington Post fact-checks their articles.

"We report all rumors that are detrimental to Trump." The DNC and leftists start rumors and they gladly report them as from confidential and trusted inside sources.
In reality they report lies as facts and know they are probably lies when they print them or in the case of television broadcast them.
Actually if you have read Mad Magazine over the years you will find their political satire based on fact. They were very funny to say the least. Boris and Natalia as arch enemies to The West in Spy vs Spy were insanely funny.
My dog looked up at me and said, "surely you jest."
We have to reject the rationale and the purpose of supposed “independence” of many federal agencies.
1st - are they truly independent? No. They are all executive branch agencies, with MOST of them having majorities of their boards chosen by a sitting president and many with their chief executive appointed by the president.
2nd - What is the REAL purpose of the supposed “independence”? That purpose is threefold. First is to accept the pretense that the commissioners of the “independent” agencies come to their roles with NO political agendas in mind. The second is to accept the pretense that for the subject matter of the agency, they are the brightest lights on the planet (merely because they are so appointed AS IF they are). The third leg of the real purpose is to dismiss and avoid actual democratic representative government from INTERFERING what these agencies of supposed “experts” decree.
In sum, the “independent” agencies REAL purpose is a Progressive/Marxist joint purpose of government by decree of supposed “experts” and with true representative government removed from weighing in, examining, and dismissing what they decree.
