Barstow is meth factory central. Do NOT follow dirt roads off the highway, you will likely come on a few mobile homes serving as meth brewing sites.
I gather they like the wide open spaces to get rid of the smell and hide explosive industrial accidents.
Lots of very nasty people live in the Barstow area.
