My thought is that it doesn’t happen that often. I’ve used credit cards, perhaps when they first started, and have rarely had false charges show up on them. And it has been my experience that fraudulaent charges are readily reversed by the credit card issuers. The companies that assist in such cases would have you believe that it’s very difficult to reverse such charges. That has not been my experience. I once had several thousand $ in airline tix to Nigeria fraudulently charged to a card. The charges were quickly reversed. Just monitor your statements and respond to alerts and you should be in good shape. No need to penalize yourself by resricting your use of your cards.

CC companies are typically very cooperative on this kind of thing. I am always surprised though how often the must hurt because of fraudulent use. It’s gotta be substantial.
