I agree. The Mexicans are going to take pot shots at the solar panels with rifles, and if close enough, throw rocks at it...unless they can make panels with metal like aluminum.
I don’t see how a solar wall is anything but inefficient and overly expensive, plus risks compromising the security aspect of the border wall which has to be the priority.
To get maximum sunlight, you want a very specific angle of exposure toward the sun. You won’t get that on a wall that twists and turns with the border geography. It also might mean creating slopes on the wall to angle the panels upward, and slopes make for easier climbing.
Then there’s maintenance and cleaning costs. Put panels on the wall and they’ll make a nice target for any Mexican with a rifle or rocks to throw. Plus the border’s gonna be dusty, so the panels get dusty, reducing efficiency. Gonna cost to send a crew miles out into the desert to fix/clean panels, particularly if they’re high off the ground.
If there absolutely has to be a solar element to the project to get Dims on board, better to keep them as separate constructions, so the solar panels can be organised for maximum efficiency and the wall can be built for maximum security. Anything else means introducing inefficiency, which while hardly surprising for government work still wastes our tax $$$s.
“When did Trump say solar will pay for wall?
Article is written by a political idiot.”
Exactly. President Trump never said the solar energy would be for the whole price of the wall. Probably a small fraction.
The other night at the rally in Iowa. And to be clear, he said solar would pay for part of the wall and Mexico would pay for the rest. But the solar power could help pay the upkeep.
An idea that he has clearly not thought through.
Actually, that IS a good idea.
Put the solar panels on the US side.
Wait just a minute!
I thought Mexico was gonna pay for the wall
That’s what I was thinking.
The guy who wrote the disengenous article is a typical LIB lunatic liar. What a fool.
