Down on our farm, where I grew up, we raise cotton. We called that a towsack, because you ‘towed’ it behind you when picking cotton.

Well, yes. But the tow-sack is longer and full of cotton bolls, so it can carry much more volume than the very heavy (high density) potato sacks - which yo have to pick up and haul around.

It takes a lot of cotton to make 100 lbs. My dad let his brother grow some cotton on our land. Guess who picked that? Yep. We did. It was only one time but that was more than enough. Glad for the experience, though.
