I've tried on pants from the same maker, same style, only difference was the color, and gotten 2 inch differences on waist size.

Data is am amazing thing. With people trying on different sizes and reporting back on the fit, “manufacturer’s size” is no longer important. Amazon will be able to predict exactly what fits you based on what fit you in the past and what fits other people.

Has happened to me many times.
Now I always try on for fit before I buy if possible.
(Especially shoes and pants.)
(T-Shirt sizes are often wrong too.)
