Poll: Ossoff, Handel nearly deadlocked in Georgia race

The race for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District has the Republican and Democratic candidates less than 2 points apart ahead of Tuesday's contest, according to a WSB-Landmark Communications poll.

The poll shows Democrat Jon Ossoff with 49.7 percent support among likely voters in the historically Republican district, while his opponent, Karen Handel, is right at his heels with 48 percent.

The poll comes just days before the special election to fill the seat of Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price, which is seen largely seen as a referendum on President Trump’s presidency.

More than 140,000 ballots had been cast when early voting in the district closed Friday, showing widespread interest in the race. The race is the most expensive House race in U.S. history, with both candidates spending around $50 million.

Reputable local pollster. I still predict Handel pulls this out. Lots of money behind Osoff though and he has run a stealth campaign.

I’d like to know how many of these ballots were postmarked, “Hollywood, CA”.

Karen is closing the gap! I think her popularity is on a gradual upswing. Ossoff has already peaked.

the special election to fill the seat of Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price, which is seen largely seen by the party of Hodgkinson as a referendum on President Trump’s presidency.

There, fixed it.

What’s the count as of the early vote tallies? That’s what will tell the story. Because the Left’s only chance is to have Osoff so far ahead in the early voting that she cannot make up the difference.

There were 8-10 people waving signs the for Ossoff this morning at a busy intersection. They are trying very hard to get something they can declare Trump is losing.

Nothing in the world can happen that will change the narrative to Trump is winning.

History suggests that she has been winning all along. As the election looms, it’s time to salvage their credibility by at least giving her an even chance.

Why aren’t he 50 points ahead, you might ask. LOL! You would think with the gazillions spent to push him to a landslide win and mandate(that’s a horrible word). That he and she are merely nearly deadlocked is disturbing. She should be way ahead but..............cha ching.

50 million riding on Osoff, the non-resident, LOL! What is the matter with Georgia? What has happened there?

Is Handel just a mediocre candidate, or what? She should win this race and with the the skewed polling showing them “even”, she may win by 10 points.

the late deciders are going hendel. if the polls have him up a point or two, I think she’s really up a point or two. trump voters fly under the radar, and judged by what happened in november.

There is no way Ossoff wins!

If Republicans show up & vote R, it should be an easy victory

They don't even need the help of Independents!!!

Talked about overhyped!

No matter who wins, this is not a referendum on Trump, it is a local congressional election.

As a 6th District voter for the past 30+ years....

Handel is mediocre....she generates no enthusiasm among the base...she is viewed as an “establishment” Republican....old and tired.....

Republican’s, Conservatives and some independents are coming to the polls not to vote for her but vote against Assoff (intentional mis-spell).

That's why the race is so tight.....Everything on off-cycle elections here are based heavily on turnout of a specific base....

She should squeak it, but all bets are off...

Handel has a lot going against her. The dems are spending a TON of money for this seat because they are desperate to declare a victory over Trump. The other big thing going against her is the irresponsible, ineffective, disloyal, and unproductive Republican Congress! How many voters are looking at what the GOP is failing to do with majorities in both houses and the White House and are saying to themselves, “why should I bother voting to increase a majority that is a complete waste of time?”

Consider he spent $50 million lying shameless that he is a Anti Terrorist Hawk and Fiscal Conservative with the tame quiescence of the local media in ignoring his lies and almost complete inaction by the GOP leadership, and you understand what is happening.

Dems are trying to buy the seat. Which is stupid because they have to pretend he is a Republican to do it. Even if he wins, good luck holding it 17 months when he has to come back without the $50 million Hollywood bankroll and try to win based on defending his voting record.
