Everybody I know raves about Myrtle Beach so we went for a week. It was too much like NJ(crowds, attitudes, drivers, etc.), which I wanted to get away from. No thanks, not my thing.
That's because it is. Most of the folks visiting are down from the Charlotte area, which has become full of transplanted New Yorkers and Jerseyites. It's why we packed up and moved from a Charlotte suburb to the mountains.
Miserable bunch those transplants...
