3 dead, 36 wounded in Chicago weekend shootings

A woman who was shot to death in the Gold Coast neighborhood was among eight people shot early Sunday. In total, 3 people have been killed and 36 others have been wounded in gun violence across Chicago since Friday evening.

More than 200 people have been shot in the first half of the month, and more than 1,500 have been shot this year, according to Chicago Sun-Times data. Of those victims, 278 have died.

You need to catch up. The McDonald v. Chicago SCOTUS decision changed that, once it was seriously enforced by the courts. The Chicago City Council tried to write multiple ordinances to dance around the clear language of the decision but was taken down by the courts every time.

Gun control, in general,is a kneejerk emotional response to violent gun crime. Remove black and Latino crime rates, and we wouldn’t be having the gun control law discussion.

And the weekend isn’t over yet. It’ll be in the mid 70s today, the sun is shining, and it’s one of those perfect Midwestern days. There will be at least a dozen more shootings before midnight.
