The GOP deserves to lose. Their cowardice has been disgraceful. The problem is that they will interpret their loss as a referendum on Trump and then double-down on their spinelessness and obstruction.

Plus, the Dems will celebrate it as a great victory and turning point for their agenda, while the press will proclaim that it is a sign of how unpopular Trump is and how the people are beginning to reject his agenda at the ballot box.
