Videos posted by attendees at the U.S. Open show a blimp crashing to the ground after apparently catching fire. The Washington County Sheriff's Office is responding to the crash, CBS affiliate WDJT-TV reports. At least one person is injured, officials said.
Jeff Alstadter, a spokesman for the U.S. Golf Association (USGA) tells CBS News officials were still gathering information about the crash.
Twitter users posted clips showing the blimp falling from the sky near the golf tournament, which is being held at Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin
Fore!
I wish the ones that provide the aerial coverage of the tournaments would burn on the ground and just go away. Nothing is worse to me than watching a player tee it up shot from behind (the “down the line” view) and, just as the player is ready to take the club back, the freaking technical director takes the blimp shot. Totally worthless if you are watching to get free lessons like I do. I yell whenever it happens and my wife thinks I’m crazy. She doesn’t play golf. And, of course, the damn things’ motors are loud as hell and the ground audio pickups them up a lot of the time.
ARCHER! I have that episode recorded on my DVR. It’s great.
