I've never stockpiled ammo, but if I did:
I would have started in November, 2008
I would've bought no more than 100 rounds at a time
I would've paid only in cash
and I would have it stored in separate, secure locations

I always pay in cash and purchases of ammo here in the People's Socialist RepuliK of Illinois are not recorded.
Occasionally I'll skip across the border to Indiana and buy in bulk there to save a few bucks on the sales tax here in Illinois...

Wouldn’t that make you a little late to the game? Especially for a Texan? I knew to many computer geeks so I was ready by Dec. 31 1999.

(.308/5.56/7.62 about $57 per case of 1000...9mm/45 cal./BMG also dang cheap).
Haven't had to buy anything since 2000. Over 3-year period (97-2000) spent several thousand across many different PA gun shows. Today my grandchildren and great grandchildren are well supplied. They only buy what they will use hunting or at target practice.

Unfortunately I lost everything in an untimely boating accident, quite tragic really...
