Morning!
The best humblebrag of the year came from the Queen of Humble, Hillary Clinton, and her surrogates:
I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comeys letter on October 28th and Russian Wikileaks . . .
and traditionalist attitudes toward women
and white voters afraid of losing White Privilege
and Democrats doing a poor job of controlling the narrative
and a thousand Russian agents working every day
and content farms in Macedonia
and the TV networks keeping Hillary off the air
and the vast right-wing conspiracy
and Infowars
and Google
and Governor Scott Walker
and Steve Bannon
and Nate Silver
and Citizens United
and the DNC being a mess and in poor shape
and bad polling numbers
and Obama winning two terms
and people wanting change
and the New York Times, cable news, and television executives
and Eight of the top 10 political documentaries on Netflix were screeds against President Obama and me
and democrats not making the right documentaries
and the Democrat Party and the Republican Party
and concerns that Hillary Clinton was involved with a child sex trafficking operation
and concern about Hillary Clinton being a lizard
and high expectations that Hillary would win
and voter suppression
and the Russians ransacking Hillarys computer files and strategically leaking the truth
and misogyny
and Gary Johnson and Jill Stein voters
and advocacy press on the right
and Facebook
and Twitter
and old, out-of-touch democrats with a flawed message that alienated young voters
and white nationalists
and hatred of Hillary Clinton at the FBI (how could anyone hate a lovable woman like Hillary?)
and FBI investigation
and email scandal
and black voters not liking Hillary
and fewer than 100,000 deplorable voters spread across a handful of states
and people hating Hillary because she is so professional, so polished, such a wonderful lawyer, so brilliant, so good, so righteous, and so much better than us (yes, that was a quote)
and the lack of energy among Hillary supporters and expectations of Hillary being the inevitable winner, because it was her turn
and Robby Mook selecting the wrong travel stops for Hillary and spending heavily in the wrong states
and Hillarys campaign team failing to hone her message and get voters to the polls
and Bill Clintons appearance of an inappropriate meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch
and blatant sexism
and Wikileaks
and the ugly stew of racism
and Hillarys alleged lack of likability and claimed lack of trustworthiness
and self-hating women
and Evangelical, Catholic, anti-marriage equality, and anti-choice social conservatives
and sinister outside forces
and whitelash
and democrat policies that favor the rich
and failure to talk to working-class white voters
and men
and lower-level FBI agents pressuring their Director (because thats how professional relationships work)
and Tim Kaine
and white women
and racists
and sexists
and rural voters
and the working class voting against their own interests
and fake news
and supermarket tabloids
and celebrity (The Apprentice)
and white male resentment
and over-shaming Trump supporters
and rejecting Bernie
and Reagan democrats
and backlash against political correctness
. . . but other than those unfair and unexpected setbacks, Hillary was a perfect candidate and should have won.
Having dinner alone with the President of the United States concerned me, Comey humblebragged.
This was my favorite parable when I was a kid wiggling around on a hard wooden pew: (It shows that humblebragging is nothing new! LOL!)
Luke 18:9-14New International Version (NIV)
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: God, I thank you that I am not like other peoplerobbers, evildoers, adulterersor even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.
13 But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
14 I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
