Adam West — an actor defined and also constrained by his role in the 1960s series “Batman” — died Friday night in Los Angeles. He was 88. A rep said that he died after a short battle with leukemia.

“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero,” his family said in a statement.

I recall when the TV show first aired. I was in college but did not see it.

A fellow student did and a bunch of us were sitting around while he told us about it. Couldn’t wait to see it and sure enough it was as weird as he said. Great fun.

So sorry about this. We never missed Batman when we were kids, same bat time, same bat channel. He also had a part in Robinson Crusoe on Mars. I have that in my collection. He will always be the real Batman to me. RIP.

Did we ever determine if Robin was gay? I know Batman certainly was not.

Bummer. I'm enjoying his recent commericals targeted to seniors, "don't get hoodwinked."

Batman is on MeTV every Saturday morning, 7 am EDT, right after Superman.

Over the top campy. Insider jokes, guest appearance “sticking out the window” when Batman and Robin were using the batrope to scale a building. Odd “tilted” camera angles.

Catwoman really had a thing for Batman.

Understandable...but it still leaves Robin in the lurch. Were there any criminal elements (male or female) that had an ‘attraction’ towards him?

The Bat Phone was a direct connect to city hall. What if a phone man discovered the secret?

I think there was an episode where Robin was attracted to a female. Can't ID it. Meanwhile, some great lines in here.

Riddler: Did you hear about Greta Garbo? She dreamed one night she sprinkled 6 boxes of grass seed in her hair, and woke up moaning: "I vant to be a lawn!" ...

Robin: A giant cake of foam rubber! What are the chances?
Batman: I'd say the odds against it would make even the most reckless gambler cringe!

I think Lesley Gore liked Robin but then she turned out to be a Lesbian.
