Johnny Dake was a God Send to me, I only wish I could have met him in person. Super Smart guy and when I was going through my Divorce, he knew what I was thinking before I thought it and cut me off at the pass and made it less painful and at the same time brought me back to my Church Roots and I guess he saved me twice. I miss Johnny.
When it comes to my fishing buddy (I’m 62 and he is 64 and he still calls me boy) ... when it comes to getting even, he just knows I can do it. We both divorced about the same time and it seems we just keep trading Girlfriends back and forth (not intentionally, it is a Small Town) it’s almost like we are married, we learn so much about each other... via the women. He has the Boat, but I can pick up women, then he is an ass, makes his choice and tells me he doesn’t need a Wingman. Lucky for me, I don’t care, I’m never getting married again anyway and 2 weeks later we (me and his latest ex) show up as couple at his place and I bring a bunch of Marinated Chicken Wings to throw on the BBQ and then I brag about what a great Wingman I am.
I have been trading insults and threats back and forth with him since we were both young and married when he was my boss and that is about 15 years worth of banter, he is still Rich and I am still Poor (although the Divorces brought that divide a bit closer).
We spend most of our time drinking beer in my yard or his trying to figure out a way to embarrass each other in front of the latest girlfriends and then we go fishing, sometimes we even bring them with us.
If you can’t tell,(by this post) he just left a few minutes ago and my Ice Chest is a bunch of beers lighter than when he showed up (We don’t count, we just get even).

Yep, super smart sounds about right. He was always a hand full to argue with. Aint nothing perfect in this old world but a fishing buddy is a good friend indeed. Hats off to both of you.
Johnny could argue in a bunch of different languages as well spoke and taught Greek and Latin to his Asian Grand kids, w cinnamon rolls that he baked as the prize (they would also have to learn Vietnamese and Laotian, but he said that they were figuring that out a lot without his help since that is what their Mom’s could speak and what Grandmas did speak) .

Oh, I know, that’s definitely a WTF kind of person but I was very surprised to find myself actually liking the guy but extremely bewildered. If you’re brave there’s an hilarious video with him and his camera on a selfie stick in a swimming pool. Loves him some boobies, I tell you what.
