I was shocked when I read this.sarc

I live in the Parish that borders Orleans on the North. I live about 6 or 7 miles from the Parish line. Our rate is 3.1 homicides per 100,000 . And of these a lot have ties to Orleans.

Needless to say I don't cross the lake very often.

I do need to mention that every unnatural death is a homicide. We have very lax gun laws so some of these homicides may be a good guy shooting a bad guy. justifiable homicide.

Louisiana Voodoo, also known as New Orleans Voodoo, describes a set of spiritual folkways developed from the traditions of the African diaspora. It is a cultural form of the Afro-American religions developed by West and Central Africans populations of the U.S. state of Louisiana

Yes. The news media especially likes to use the terms loosely

They did not include the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The U.S. Virgin Islands has routinely had rates that should put them on that list, but they are routinely excluded from U.S. lists because they are a territory.

A case can be made to exclude them. The U.S. Virgin Islands would be a contender for the top spot. They are a territory of the United States. The numbers I have vary from 60 per 100K in 2010 to 32.9 in 2015.

I was driving from LA to Miami, stopped in New Orleans, where my grandmother once lived. Such fond memories of annual vacations in the gracious, beautiful town. I parked near St. Louis Square, mentioned to the elderly black attendant that I was tempted to move to NOLA because I’d always loved it.

He shook his head. “Wouldn’t be safe for you now,” he said with real regret. His gracious, charming city had been stolen from him too. WE shared a moment of silent understanding.

That was in 1987. Everyone our family knew there has left, and all with great sadness.

Welfare reform would fix this.

They subsidize generational poverty by incentivizing welfare queens to have large numbers of children.

Sterilization should be required for long-term welfare.

You need to stay in Slidell or Mandeville as much as possible. Maybe even Covington. LOL!
