Lotta mushroom pickers here in Florida. Their main problem is that the mushrooms grow out of “cow pies” (organic Frisbees) and the contributions of the bovine have a foul “bouquet” and one can only imagine the flavor.
I have read or been told that they now put an antifungal into cow feed so the poop doesn’t sprout magic mushrooms. As for the flavor, it’s not great, but the cow mud can be and is certainly removed prior to ingestion.
