Truly leaning towards Thermal......The advantages appear to be substantial.....initial cost is a little higher......

Was looking for some actual experience with both...

I have used both extensively. I favor IR. To me it is superior in all conditions.

Here is a YouTube link to thermal use by JagerPro, a professional hog eradication company operating in the Southeastern United States.

The thermal hunts are guided shots using company-provided Remington .308 semiauto rifles mounting a $13K plus thermal sight.

The company is mostly staffed with retired US Army special operations soldiers. Very methodical, reconnaissance and sensor-based approach to hog eradication. There are a lot of videos detailing their approach on their YouTube channel.
