Its time for Roger Goodell to call in a favor to one of his billionaire owner buddies or GM or coaching friends and get Colin Kaepernick signed.
As Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in the draft, was falling right off the board into free agent-ville in 2014, there were rumors that Goodell called his good friend Jeff Fisher, the Rams coach, and asked him to use one of his three seventh-round picks on Sam and save the NFL the embarrassment of having to explain how the SEC co-defensive player on the year didnt get picked.

No he does not deserve a roster spot.
And they are absolutely right. :)
The NFL could literally disappear over this decision. A death spiral in the conservative fan base could cut their funding below the level needed to support the league’s fixed costs. Will Roger Goodell choose wisely?
Racist. What about Tim Tebow?
I watch baseball, and I have seen something similar there, on occasion.
Guy will be burning up Triple-A; but, when he gets to the bigs, he discovers that the guys up there throw pitches other than fast balls. There is a period of adjustment. Some make it, some don't. So,being a big deal in college does not always translate when playing in a professional league.
Aaron Hernandez should’ve followed his brother to UConn. DJ was a good player. Now he is a high school coach in Connecticut.
Exactly. Any of the major pro sports leagues are the “beyond All-Stars” relative to the levels of competition below. Loads and loads of very “promising” talents wash out when they reach the highest leagues. It takes a huge step up from wherever one played before. Some can keep improving and make the transition, mental and physical. Many can’t for whatever reasons.
that face, tempting me to make some “homophobic remark”
Tim Tebow needs a job too.
Colon Klapperdick deserves a collective kick in the butt from every patriot in America.

I’ve always believed that something similar happened when Michael Vick out of nowhere gets signed by the Philadelphia Eagles after his reinstatement. Jeffrie Lurie couldn’t begin to explain the reasoning behind that move. It was a Ralph Cramden moment if I ever saw one.
How do we know that Sam’s selection as co-defensive player in the SEC that year wasn’t politically rigged by the selection committee? I mean there are stats and there are ‘soft stats’. Garbage-time sacks against 2nd tier opponents should be discounted.
The New York Daily News needs to explain why a drooling 50 IQ ape named Gary Myers was hired in an esteemed communist newspaper like the Daily News.
OK, who wants this rabid anti-American douchebag on your team?
Anyone?
Sams ran up some pretty good stats his senior year - 11.5 sacks and 19 tackles for a loss - so the award was probably justified. But he also played end in a very good defense with Kony Ealy, Markus Golden, and Shane Ray so he likely benefited from other players being double-teamed.
Where is it this idiot thinks it’s Goodell’s job to find spots for players?
If this guy can’t get a QB job then just who’s fault or problem is that?
Go for it, let’s see how many more viewers you lose this time around.

The flamer decided to walk away from football for his own alleged mental health, but the following year blamed the Rams -- the team that had drafted him for his queerness, not in spite of it -- for not giving him, uh, a position. Pretty sure he's tried most positions by now.
