Its time for Roger Goodell to call in a favor to one of his billionaire owner buddies or GM or coaching friends and get Colin Kaepernick signed.
As Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in the draft, was falling right off the board into free agent-ville in 2014, there were rumors that Goodell called his good friend Jeff Fisher, the Rams coach, and asked him to use one of his three seventh-round picks on Sam and save the NFL the embarrassment of having to explain how the SEC co-defensive player on the year didnt get picked.

No one deserves a job, let alone one the 1,600+ NFL roster spots, or the 32 starting quarterback spots. Those positions are earned. Kaepernick is a poor quarterback whose best years are behind him.
The paying customers, fans as it were, would in the main disagree and they are the ones that ultimately decide these things. The team owners and the NFL management are not terribly interested in being PC at the price of going broke.
Affirmative action? No way. If he was really good some might ignore is anti-American idiocy. But he’s not. And why should he benefit from the success of America when he rejects and disgraces it?
Colin K should decide that he feels like a woman and go play for the WNFL. He would shine there until a lot of other less than great players decided their careers would be enhanced by doing the same.
Excellent point, you made.
Even the Raiders won't take him, and they're notorious for picking up strays.
“Kaepernick, like Tebow, has a skill set that is well-suited to a wishbone or similar option-based offense.”
Exactly. When Kaepernick was at Nevada (and yes, I acknowledge that it was college football), their pistol offense was geared toward a large mobile QB.
In some respects, it’s sad that the NFL doesn’t use the option more often. I’ve watched teams like Navy and Georgia Tech use it to great effect. It’s enjoyable to watch because it really wears down defenses.
Lots of college players are, like Sam, too small, too slow, or too weak for the NFL.
Why is that embarrassing?
Then there should be no problem getting/forcing MSNBC to hire Bill O’Reilly and pay him top dollar.....
Gary Myers? Who’s he? And why does his opinion “count”?
“Colin Kaepernick deserves NFL roster spot..”
Let him play for the Jets.
These are all the same people that whined when Michael Sam was cut and wasn’t picked up by other teams.
YUP! But that was more like 50 years ago.
Maybe Michael Sam could get together with Colon on ESPN.
Gotta admit, not mine. It came from the Dan Patrick show
Deserves vs earned, gotta have it vs I would like to have it.
Start a new career in baseball, you still have time.
kaepernick deserves to be shunned by society...and exiled. What a loser/ingrate. To top it off he is a crappy football player. LOL.
Colin deserves a roster spot? Yes, professional water boy..
The cost and talent level of professional sports does not permit more than a superficial level of on-field social experimentation. If you’re not talented enough, an NFL game will expose it in less than a minute. You’ll be leaving on a flat bed golf cart.
