Been there? Rumford is a bit down in the heels. Not a good vibe. Could be nice, especially the commercial section by the mill canal (Rumford Falls) but it's all vacant signs in the windows. A lotta sweatpants and food stamps. Very inexpensive properties, yes. But then what?

Check out Farmington- 25 miles east of Rumford (Redrum). College town, shire town. Nice Main St. Much better vibe. Just 25 miles to Sugarloaf Mtn ski area (big time skiing) and better roads/access. Many events there- County fair, theater etc. If You want western maine in the foothills of the Longfellow mountains, have a look.
