A man accidentally shot and killed his girlfriend in Arlington, according to Shelby County Sheriffs Office.
The shooting happened along South Fork Drive on Thursday.
SCSO said Brennan Fields, 18, received a gun as a graduation gift. He was playing with the gun when it accidentally fired, striking his 19-year-old girlfriend, Lucinda Luna, in the stomach.
Luna went to the hospital where she died from her injuries.

The girls's father gave him the gun as a gift.
Absolutely inconceivable.
A “man?” This was a stupid little child.
Maybe he should have taken the boyfriend out to the range to teach proper weapon handling before giving him such a gift.
Terrible and totally avoidable.
I had a beautiful cousin who was at a party and somehow a gun was found and they were playing with it and boom...she died. A part of my family fell apart that day.
Why was it loaded?
Because idiocy?
Very sorry to hear this.
May I ask how old your cousin was?
These kinds of incidents are so avoidable...
Wow. Trying to remember back to high school literature...I think that wold have been termed 'tragic irony.' How awful. I can't imagine the guilt they both must be feeling. Prayers for the girl's loved ones.
“Luna’s father gave Fields the gun as a gift.”
The poor guy will never go a moment without regretting that decision.
>when it accidentally fired
BS. No, it did not “accidentally fire” you ignorant morons. The moron pulled the trigger.
Lock him up for stupidity.
Just finished cleaning a piece myself...
Nobody got hurt.
What the heck is being Taught to
These Kids?

I know the vast majority of people here on FR are aware of gun safety, but it’s always nice to constantly refresh/rehash on the subject. Hickok 45 has a nice basic gun safety video that is good for anyone interested in guns.
How awful.
There is no such thing as playing with a loaded gun and any results of playing with a loaded gun is not an accident.
And guns do not have accidents on their own.
Pretty girl. What a shame. RIP.
So sorry for your loss. A fifteen year old boy was buried today here, he and two friends were playing around with a gun and he was accidentally shot in the head.
I believe you are correct sir. Untrained people with guns, can be dangerous.
I don't believe in accidental shootings. Someone has to pull the trigger. I wonder if the dude pointed it right at her, not realizing it was loaded? Shouldn't have happened.
“Stubblefield said Fields was experienced with guns”
Got his traing from movies and tv it sounds like
