Review: ‘Wonder Woman’ film and star live up to the name
AP via The Washington Times ^ | May 30, 2017 | LINDSEY BAHR

“Wonder Woman ” has been the subject of so much superfluous fuss, it’d be easy to forget that behind all of the hand-wringing and both symbolic and real pressure to succeed there’s actually a movie meant to entertain.

Yet, like the heroine at its center, “Wonder Woman” the movie rises with powerful grace above the noise. It’s not perfect, but it’s often good, sometimes great and exceptionally re-watchable.

Director Patty Jenkins’ film is so threaded with sincerity and goodness it’s a wonder how it got past the pugnacious minds responsible for what’s come before. “Wonder Woman” evokes not only the spirit of Richard Donner’s “Superman,” but also Joe Johnston’s “Captain America: The First Avenger,” while still being its own thing. Just look to the image of Gal Gadot confidently striding out alone onto an unwinnable battlefield with only a shield, a sword and a mission - and prevailing.

It’s enough to give you goosebumps.

OK, I’ll bite.

What do the Amazons have against the Kaiser?

From what I’ve gathered, their ancient enemy is playing on the Kaiser’s team.

Gal Gadot is a true beauty with some of the longest legs ever.

I want to see this if for no other reason than because it’s a World War I period piece.

Too many of his rolls make them fat?

There is not one ounce of unwanted fat anywhere on Gal Gadot.

: ) Of course not, that’s why the Amazons hate the Kaiser thou, his demented, evil plot to destroy them through tasty baked goods. Let’s see if Gadot holds up to the test of time as well as Carter.

I will not watch another movie about a female hero. It’s akin to the pink ribbon thing...nothing for the prostate cancer...men don’t matter...we are useless...I’m sick of it.

I was interested in it as soon as I read that they moved it to WWI. An interesting choice, and it separates it a bit from Captain America. A fresh angle.

What I think I'm going to enjoy most though, in an ironic way, is that Wonder Woman will not only be the first good movie of the new DCEU but also the first big movie of the latest crop of superhero movies to star a female character -- despite the fact that Marvel could've have beaten them to the punch.

Seriously, Black Widow, while not as well known outside of the movies, could have led any kind of espionage/Cold War style movie, but Marvel had her too invested in the current storyline.

I’m looking forward to RedLetterMedia’s Harry S. Plinkett to do his review:

“Hullo, I’m Mister Plinkett.
I’m here, ready to do my Wunder Woman review.
At no point does Wunder Woman take off her clothes.
Well, kids, that’s thuh end of my review. It sucked.
I gotta go now. This cat’s not gonna milk itself.”

They are pushing it to convince females they can do anything
Physically (and far more) than a man can do (they cannot) and are also marketing it to men who like cheesecake (and who doesn’t?)

I could watch Gal Gadot run around the screen for hours and hours and not get bored. Yes that is terribly sexist...but WOW!
