A recent episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" featured the ONLY burrito shop in Cabo San Lucas, which was founded by, and currently owned by, an American. They're open 24/7 selling burritos to the tourists and locals.

It used to be a compliment to a cook that you wanted their recipe(s). Now it is a new crime of ‘cultural appropriation’ if you bring a recipe concept, modify it for local tastes and setup in a different country. WTF? Surely this is a results of a community college bull session where they were trying to find the ultimate absurdist stunt!

(btw there was litigation post-embargo on the Cuban trade names and if the embargo is lifted that litigation may be re-visited, but that is what trademark law is supposed to be...)

When we first heard “cultural appropriation” we thought it was just the crazy rantings of a demented liberal. But they were serious. Like “white privilege” they were dead serious.

Only corn tortillas come from the New World and the process for making corn meal tortillas is completely different from making flour tortillas.
