Just the fact that the [Nazi-era Volkswagenwerks] factory basically functioned as a concentration camp during the war, and also that the members of the Porsche family, primarily Ferdinand Porsche and Anton Piëch, absconded with the cash in the final days of the war and then later built the private company in order to justify taking the money.

There's also the financial factor, where a lot of Volkswagen owners in Germany were basically getting nothing and saying, "Why do the Americans get so much, and we get nothing?"

After the War, Ferdinand Porsche, spent several years in a French prison. It was during this time he designed the Citroen 2CV “automobile” as war-reparations. (Deux-Chevaux).

Always wanted both a Karmann-Ghia and the bus I did have a 914.

Had two 914/6 Porsches--one for show, and a subsequent one for racing. Both since sold, in favor of a 1991 BMW M3--also sold.

A Fort Lauderdale friend raced his 914 with a 2.7 engine in it. THAT was the way to go!

The six must have been fun. Alas I had the 1.7. It was still a blast and handled like a race car. (owning a Porsche is like having children, you don’t know till you’ve had one)
