The new cornucopia-looking rework is so pedestrian.
"The Doomsday Machine" was one of my favorite episodes. I just watched it a couple of weeks ago with my youngest son, and I was very disgusted to see they had ruined the original special effects with cartoon computer graphics that look stupid.
Yes, the original planet eater looked better.
On the other hand the original USS Constellation looked cheesy as hell. It clearly was a cheap plastic model of the Enterprise with a different ID number on it. The revamped one looked better, with more detailed damage. They even showed an asteroid hitting the upper hull and breaking into pieces.
