DRT, why did Mary Jo Kopechne’s parents accept Ted Kennedy killing their daughter? I can only assume when you realize other members of your family may meet the same fate, you shut up and accept it. And some might go ahead and take cash since they also accept the guilty party or parties will never be brought to justice.

It is well-known that Mary Jo's parents were promised what amounted to financial security for the rest of their lives in the days following Poucha Pond.

I believe some fairly compelling testimony on that subject came out after they passed away.
