How you doing? Next weekend is Memorial Day, incredible...
Philo Vance sounds just like Mr. Peabody.
Hi, Vision!
We finally downloaded Adblock Plus. Why didn’t we do that before?! It makes browsing pop-up nest websites MUCH better. You have to download a version for each browser you use, though. https://adblockplus.org/
How’s your weekend? You’re right—I can’t believe it’s ALREADY Memorial Day, almost.
Mr. Peabody of Mr. Peabody and Sherman? Don’t think I agree.
It's been relaxing but a little cool and cloudy. No chance for a Triple Crown this year unfortunately. Went ultra lazy with cooking this weekend, about to get some takeout crabcakes. Some criminal jackass electronically swiped my debit card and took out $2k in 2 days. This is the second time this year I've been hit with fraud via electronic means.
Not only the sound of the voice and way of talking, but the same condescending way of explaining things to one’s mental inferior, Philo to the police inspector, Mr. Peabody to Sherman.
I was so struck by it this week, I had to check that Philo was not voiced by Bill Scott (Mr. Peabody).
It makes me wonder if Philo was not an inspiriation for the Mr. Peabody character, much as Jeff Regan seems to be for Nick Danger.
I love the back-and-forth between Jeff Regan and Inspector Hellman.
Oh, man, THAT SUCKS! I’m sorry to hear that, and I hope you are able to get that money re-credited to your account.
We’ve had it happen, too. I watch our bank accounts online daily, because of that. Once several years ago, I also had someone hack into my Amazon account and try to charge an 800-dollar camera on my debit card that Amazon automatically saves on your account when you make a purchase. Fortunately, the sale was rejected since there wasn’t that much money in the account. Since then I immediately delete my card after every purchase I make on Amazon.
I had never heard of CBS Radio Mystery Theater, ran 1974-1982.

Cool, to ‘82. Must have been the last OTR program.
Love Fats Waller with. Ain’t Misbehavin’
I’ve never heard of “Personally, Its Off The Record.”
It must refer to performances replicating popular music records.
Another show I never heard of until this week was “2000 Plus.” It was a science fiction/fantasy series like X Minus One.
The episode I heard was unique in that it left the story hanging. It featured a duplicating ray that duplicated a police detective — made a perfect copy and both thought they were the real guy. But it ended with the Egyptian servant of the guy who built the ray saying that the only living thing they ever duplicated before was a dog, and one of the dogs suffered a horrible death one month afterwards.
But you never learned which detective was going to die the horrible death.
True story. :-/
A lot of OTR programs will leave the listener hanging, Gunsmoke for instance. It can be a powerful technique by forcing the listener into a moment of soul searching but I guess it didn't’ work for your story.
Re “200 Plus”: And you never learned which detective was the copy and which was the original.
Did you catch Murray just now saying and emphasizing: “...our MANNED space program, as it used to be called...” WHAT A STUPID THING TO SAY!!! I can’t take his social justice warrior crap!
