Yes say what you will, but Hanks has had a tremendous career and variety of roles both in acting and producing. Also “Saving Pvt. Ryan”, “The Polar Express” and even “Bosom Buddies”. Just to name a few others.

Don’t forget his best work, “Bachelor Party.”

I liked Bosom Buddies, back in the day.
To watch that and its silliness and then see him do Apollo 13.

Forest Gump stands apart from the rest. A character sooo different than the norm. Similar to Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man.

When actors appears in the movie and disappears into the character, that is greatness. Hanks does that.

An under the radar movie with Hanks was Nothing in Common. It was pretty good for the young Tom Hanks and also starred Jackie Gleason who was seriously ill who played his father and in real life only had a short time to live.

Saving Pvt Ryan?

A Hollywood actor does not exist who could play a real life military drill seargent, such as, in the movie, Full Metal Jacket.

Despite all the award shows, not one actor ever could play that real life role. The director needed an actual drill seargent.

What does that say about actors? Overrated.

You see, you never see another actor playing the same role for comparison.
