I wonder what branch of science describes gender as being indeterminate, or homosexuality as natural.

Well, it is clearly called out that "this Star Trek show has a GAY SCIENCE OFFICER." If the study of regular homosexuality has become a separate science by itself, it must belong to a larger group of science that "describes gender....."

That larger group is probably called Settled Science.
