The Liberty Place Monument was not a Confederate monument.

Liberty Place wasn't Confederate. It happened in 1874. As we don't have many monuments to political violence in US cities, you could make a case that New Orleans shouldn't have a monument to the Democrat White League which fought Republican supporters.

Jefferson Davis?

He was from Mississippi.

Reason enough for Louisianans not to love him?
