Selecting Sheriff Clarke for FBI Director would be a double-win for President Trump.
Not only was Clarke a strong Trump supporter during the campaign and a rock-ribbed conservative, but he would be the first Black FBI Director.
And it would be a Republican president who appointed him, which would drive the Dems insane.
I would LOVE to see that happen!
The next FBI director needs to have “balls of steel”. That goes for a female director also. He/she needs to be the polar opposite of Comey characterized with integrity, honesty, critical thinking, while advocating truth and justice before politics.
“...lacks the experience ...”
As much fun as it would be to have Clark go through the confirmation process (watching liberal heads explode), I’m inclined to agree with you.
Did the sheriff hold any high level DoJ admin posts ever?
Does he have a law degree or ever serve as a prosecutor?
These are basic requirements for the Director job, although wearing a cowboy hat and riding a horse are certainly admirable quals for a sheriff.
Has the crime rate decreased since he became sheriff?
Is the Murder Rate in Milwaukee County higher or lower than Chicago?
Regardless of whether the answers to that are 'yes' or 'no', Clarke has nothing to do with it. He's the Milwaukee County Sheriff. He runs the jail. He provides bailiffs to the courts. The sheriff's department has virtually no police responsibilities. His office has nothing to do with homicides or the crime rate.
In what area?
Yes!
Clarke is a democrat. The crime-ridden and dysfunctional City of Milwaukee is a typical democrat-controlled big city cesspool, and has been for many years. Clarke is the Sheriff of Milwaukee COUNTY. He is no-nonsense and non-political, very very smart, and he enforces the law regardless of person. That would certainly cause angst in the Swamp be a change for the top FBI official, but FBI Director Clarke would be a great thing for everyone else.
I think Sheriff Clarke could do the job but also think he is better suited for a job where he would be expected to be more in the public’s eye. Historically the FBI Director is rarely seen and only quoted on certain occasions unlike Comey who seemed to love being the center of attention.
I’d like to see a quiet deliberate man in that position who has shown great character of being honest and straightforward even when it was unpopular to do so. Someone the President on down can trust without reservation who doesn’t even like being in the limelight but will do it if there’s no other way.
Comey’s ego was Comey’s downfall. Let’s learn something from that.
The hearings for a Clarke appointment as FBI chief would be one for the ages.
