Yeah, the 2J is fascinating, but it was also the first "car that looked like the box it came in" and they've gotten uglier every year since.
IMO the most beautiful cars ever built were the sports racers of the 1960's. I was born a few years too late to see them in their prime, but I never get tired of looking at cars like the Cobra coupe, Lola T70, Chaparral 2C and 2D, and (oh God that's too sexy a car to really exist) the Ferrari 330P4.

Your take on the 2J’s looks is right spot on. I remember I had the same reaction at the time.
Lolas, Alfa T33’s, Pontiac SD’s, L88 Vettes...
It was a good time to have been alive.
