IIRC This photo was the last one that combat photgrapher ever took:

He was killed in the blast.

Had occasion to remember him just this last week when Spc. Hilda I. Clayton was killed while snapping her last photo in Afghanistan.

Yep...thos photographers who supplied so much combat footage were in harms way the whole way like the other soldiers.

God rest his soul.

He was killed in the blast.

He was Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Robert F. Read. From the Wikipedia (boldface added):
