An engineering student at Saint Louis University did too well on a class assignment to build a toy gun, creating a model so realistic that it prompted a campus-wide lockdown and hunt for a possible shooting suspect.

The private, Catholic university in Missouri warned all students to shelter in place for hours Wednesday afternoon and evacuated a residence hall after reports of a man with a gun on campus and shots fired.

Police and university officials eventually tracked the source of the scare to a toy gun. Students in the Aerospace and Mechanical “Engineering Manufacturing Procedures” class had been assigned to build a toy rubber band gun. …

This is at a University. I first assumed it was an elementary or Junior High School. Something tells me the teacher did not clear his curriculum calendar with his supervisor.
Little did he realize this overreaction would be the result.

It is asking all of the students to bring the toy guns in closed containers to a university office Thursday, where they will be destroyed.

Censorship.

No different from: Turn in your paper, it is outlawed and will be burned.

Bring a pop-tart in a box.

When rubber band guns are outlawed, only rubber band outlaws will have guns.

I’d tell them to ESAD!

That is exactly what I’d say too.

“You want my money? ESAD”

What is that? Battery powered - is it a solenoid type gun? Does it fire metal slugs from impact by a solenoid? Or is it a miniature rail-gun? Looks interesting enough for me to build one. I might have to paint the tip orange because people panic when they see toy guns, and the orange signals caution to police. (Hmmn, why aren’t crooks painting the tips of real guns with orange?)

Colgate University was just shut down over a glue gun being mistaken for a real gun. Talk about the level of stupidity on campus today.

University acting like a kindergarten (It’s a big place with probably a couple thousand armed citizens on and near the campus every day , anyway)

And the enemies we are fighting teach their children how to clear buildings and cut heads off.

Think about that.
