I’ve known many real life people who never change. A few in my own family.
I have a cousin who still lives with her mom.
She did get married and have a kid but she was back living with her parents within 2 years
She’s 58 now but still has the outlook she had at 17: lifes a party, enjoy it.
She works, pays her bills, pays her mom rent and does all the lawn work.
At times there is something comfortable with characters not changing.
Would anyone have been happy with Gunsmokes Miss Kitty getting religion, closing the saloon and joining a convent?
Or Festus cleaning up and marrying a wealthy socialite?
Some people reach a point in their lives and stop. No growing or evolving as a person. They are who they are and thats it.
I have no problem with some show characters never changing. Thats life.
