Whenever Trump talks about himself having a “big heart” he’s hinting to support for amnesty for illegals.

And big-hearted Jackson is a bit of a tough sell.

Instead of talking about it, he needs to doing it...especially vetoing this budget until it has the wall, defunding PP and repealing OC in it.
IF he signs it, I suspect he’ll be finished as a strong leader. He needs to make the UniParty bastards override his veto for all the People to see who the traitors are.

There’s more than a few FReepers that would do well to follow your advice.

I’m a Lincoln fan and an FDR during WWII fan, but it takes a lot of historical courage to recognize the “failures” of presidents who America came to worship. The Civil War was a catastrophe not Lincoln’s fault but not a good thing even with ending slavery.

In other words, Jackson would have put down the rebellion in SC before the Confederacy had a chance to form?

Alexander Hamilton saw the civil war coming.

the gap in time between the prediction and the actual event is simply an indication of the prescience of the visionary.

The only problem is that Jackson stopping any secession would have delayed the freeing of the slaves.

Must have been quite something since Jackson was dead several years before the war.

Was the Trail of Tears an example of Jackson’s big heart?

This was just plain DUMB on President Trump’s part.

Trump is correct.

Heck, I learned this from one of the South's most respected historians more than twenty years ago.

And the guy declared himself to be a proud yellow-dog Democrat!!

Andrew Jackson actually had some fight in him. All I see from Trump is a lot of big talk. This surrender will be your Waterloo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nullification_Crisis

You got it!!!! I was just about to post it here—didn’t feel that it was safe to post on my mainly business Twitter account!!!!

President Andrew Jackson delayed the Civil War by over 20 years!!!!

Rather than knowing—or learning—the relevant piece of history, the Dims engaged in round after round of Trump-bashing!!!! In fact, judging by what’s trending on Twitter right now, they’re still at it!!!!

They could not imagine—not even a little bit—that President Trump knows a lot more about this issue than they do! They just have a laser focus on “resisting and impeaching” the “unfit” President, even though that is based on pure BS!!!!

Instead, they should realize just how dim they are, and that the Dim Party is about to go the way of the dodo!!!! PHOOEY!!!!

Trump needs some Dem support. He should let them have some of their way in order to get some reform. The Gop is the real problem here.

You could have seen the Civil War coming during the drafting of the Declaration.

'I'm trying to prevent another civil war, and 30 years from now when there is likely one underway anyway, people will reflect on this statement.'

That's some 4-dimensional chess. #winning

Jackson was an expansionist. He has a hand in our acquiring all of our Hispanic states. Through his friend Sam Houston he is directly responsible for Texas. Would he have turned his eyes north to Canada or gone after the remainder of Mexico? He was rightly proud of his military and strategic prowess.

How would Jackson have prevented the Civil War? By expansionist distraction elsewhere. Slavery, an inefficient system, as proven by both Britain and our northern industrialism, probably would have died on its own by the end of the century if the Civil War had not been foght and new lands had been opened up.
